Prof. Qiangqiang Ouyang | Tacile Sensor | Best Researcher Award 

Qiangqiang Ouyang is the Deputy Director of the Department of Applied Physics at South China Agricultural University, specializing in bio-inspired haptic perception and its application in surgical robotics. He earned his doctorate in Instrument Science and Technology from Southeast University and has conducted research at Sun Yat-sen University and the University of California, Los Angeles. With expertise spanning tactile perception modeling, multimodal haptic feedback, embedded systems, and sensor design, he has led multiple funded projects and earned national and international awards for innovation. His work aims to bring human-like touch sensitivity to advanced robotic and medical systems.

  • Qiangqiang Ouyang holds a Doctor of Engineering degree in Instrument Science and Technology from Southeast University in Nanjing, where he developed a bio-inspired model of haptic perception and explored its application in surgical robotics under the guidance of Professor Juan Wu. He earned a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Anhui University of Technology in Maanshan, supervised by Dr. Ting Fang. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Automation from the same university, building a strong foundation in electronic systems and automation

He completed postdoctoral research at the First Affiliated Hospital in the Department of Microelectronics at Sun Yat-sen University, focusing on advanced haptic technologies. As a visiting researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, he worked with leading experts in neurobiology and surgical innovation, simulating tactile afferent population responses for enhanced haptic feedback in surgical robots. Earlier in his career, he contributed as an R&D professional at the Institute of Industrial Technology, Anhui University of Technology, where he designed temperature measurement instruments, data acquisition terminals, and supported patent development.

  • Throughout his career, Qiangqiang has earned recognition for his innovation and technical achievements.
