🌱 Early Academic Pursuits
Umer Hayat embarked on his academic journey with a strong foundation in agriculture and forestry. He completed his Bachelor’s in Agriculture (Forestry) from the University College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha, Sargodha, Pakistan, from September 2013 to June 2017. This was followed by a Master’s in Forestry from Beijing Forestry University, where he focused on predicting the potential distribution of Agrotis ipsilon (Hufnagel) under current and future climate scenarios using the CLIMEX model, from September 2017 to June 2020. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he is currently completing his PhD in Forestry at Beijing Forestry University, evaluating the impact of climate change on the global distribution and damage assessment of Aeolesthes sarta (SLB), with a focus on Pakistan, from September 2020 to June 2024.

Umer Hayat has gained extensive professional experience in various academic and research roles. He served as a Visiting Lecturer of Forestry at the College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha (UOS), Pakistan, from 26th September 2022 to 22nd February 2023, and at the University of Punjab (PU), Lahore, Pakistan, from 31st May 2021 to 16th October 2021. He also worked as an Exam Invigilator for multiple examinations at Ambalal Muslim College, Sargodha, Pakistan, and briefly as a Sales Assistant at Stationary Distribution in Sargodha. During the last year of his postgraduate studies, he was a Teacher Assistant at Beijing Forestry University, delivering lectures on invasive pest biology to international and Chinese students. He participated in the Go Global summer school project in 2019, representing Beijing Forestry University as an international student scholar. His early professional experience includes a Forest Working Plan (FWP) in the Chir-Pine Forest of Ghora-Gali, Murree, Pakistan, focusing on various aspects of forest inventory and vegetation assessment.
